They were already well exposed into political indoctrination and were on a politically left funded/ motivation camp , who knows how many would have continued into a career of politics and local/ national govt. You're right , at 20 you don't know shit, that's why indoctrination is effective at a young age. That's why youth politics/ youth councils and the various youth forums for aspiring politically minded youth are a thing (Youth UN etc)- get them young - train them up - and like boris johnson/ angela merkal/ jacinda arden and many many others who were heavily into and influenced by youth politics before becoming fully-fledged political leaders of the future, you have an on-hand pool of potential candidates (that you already know everything about, their weakness's, strengths, areas of comprimise, ability to co-erce/ blackmail, or simply heavily donate to etc) that are already inculcated into parroting and implementing the agenda and narratives of the day.
