Watch as he flips it. The dark color on the coin was likely a reflection from the ceiling.

At 13-14 seconds into the video it looks very much like the OP image. Don't think it's reflection as the color doesn't change as the angle of the coin changes 14-15 seconds. Try watching it at 25% speed.
