As requested, here's the follow up for the gun show. My friend and I always go to the gun shows when they are within driving distance. They're usually packed, but nothing like we saw on Saturday. They had the endloaders with the snow plow attachment plowing the grass. Anywhere that people could park (even blocking the road) was used. We got there, and of course there were 100 signs saying wear a mask per the mayor's orders. The mayor's orders ran out and the faggot doesn't have the power to do that anyways. So we played the stupid game and wore a mask as we went to pay. Right as you walked in, there was a table of 3 cops checking everyone's weapons as they came in. I still CC mine anyways, but it's concealed so no one knows its there. About 3 minutes into it I can't breathe so I took off my mask. I looked around, and about 60% of people didn't have a mask on. It was so tightly packed, that there were lines formed at every table to review the wares. It was a 35,000sf building so pretty large. Now on to the selection... It was shit. Everything was ridiculously over priced. Even the "deals" were way above current list price. For example, I saw 50rnds of 556 going for $110. 9MM was being sold for $80 for 50rnds. 150rnds of green tip was going for $330. Keep in mind, I just bought 150rnds for $130. Despite all of that, they were selling firearms like crazy. Almost everyone leaving was walking out with one. About an hour of being there, one of the cops came over the loud speaker reminding everyone that they need to wear a mask or the event won't be able to come back. Everyone put their masks back on, and about 5 minutes later they were all off again. Also, there were probably 30 cops there walking up and down the aisles.

Welcome to the (west) European nightmare, where when you even get the fragile grace of having the right to have a gun, you are discouraged to get one by your wallet.

I want to look into reloading. I think that would be the only way forward. Plus, you could easily trade 500rnds for a firearm. I also want to look into getting a 3D printer. I just do not know if one of the $250 ones would be good enough to build a receiver with.

I was doing the same thing, but good luck being able to find primers right now for a reasonable price. There's a current backorder on existing orders to the big manufacturers that's running almost 12 months

A million people have already had this idea, and actually got off the couch to do it. You won't find reloading materials.

The time to buy was two years ago. You buy an umbrella when the sun is shining, not when it's raining.

Funny anecdote, a german politcan was investigated and fined for inciting hatred against minorities by posting a pick of a reloading bench and saying "I want one of those" you have to consider that he had his "loicens" to have fire firearms and that the license was not for collecting or hunting but for sports shooting aka you go through tons of ammo.

What I am saying is, get into reloading and never give up your guns.

Btw is there a way/ is it feasible to make your own primers? because eventually they will go after that too.

Stamping the primer casings wouldn't be too much of a problem but getting the powders/chemicals will be a bitch in the future even / especially? in the US now.

Yes, you can make your own primers, anything that can be manufactured by industry can be made at home or by a cooperating community, but much easier to just reload spent primers. There are several videos giving the details, but in a nutshell, you pull the anvil out, use a nail set or other metal pin to flatten the dent back out from the inside, clean it well, and replace the primer material with about 3 stacked roll caps cut carefully to size. Then replace the anvil. It's a somewhat delicate operation, but doable. Stores are already pulling roll caps from the shelves though, with the usual BS excuses. I am sure there are pages, for now at least, that can give you the chemistry to make your own filler material.

Wow... I wish the /guns sub was more active

I posted the original thread here, so that's why I came back. I agree though. While many are lurking here, most do not engage in forum so it's like the same 50 of us talking to each other.

Well thanks it was good to know the prices ... I might think of selling some green. My cost basis is .32

I wonder if the police/government is purchasing all the ammo from the manufactures and whatever trickles out goes to the retailers. Or the story of non-essential is still the actual reason.

[–] 0 pt

Pretty much the former. Along with hoarders and scalpers buying up what's left. The question to ask yourself though, is why are government agencies, even the Post Office for crying out loud, buying up WW3 levels of ammunition?

The mask charade infuriates me

You're the one that was going to try going to menards right? Did you ever do that?

I still haven't worn one, I've only had to leave 2 places so far a BK and a verizon store. I think more and more people are wearing them thou.

I went to a show this weekend as well. It was jam packed. Probably the most I've seen even when Obama was in office. 9mm and .223/5.56 was about a dollar a round. Some guns were overpriced, but not by a lot.

I was hoping to get the wife a glock 43 or SW 2.0 (the smaller version of my edc). They only had the 43x which was larger than what she was looking for.

[–] 0 pt

Did you end up getting anything?

I understand the greatness and importance of guns, I don’t own a lot, but I have more than three. That being said, arrows and bows can be made safely at home, are nearly silent to fire, and easily pierce body armor.

The Vietcong fought back America with home field knowledge and effective use of resources. Nothing says we can’t do the same.

Diversify your methods of defense or become countered.

Has anyone considered high powered air rifles for self defence?

[–] 1 pt

I've never heard of it, although it would be definitely viable. Those .50 cal air guns go right through a 2x4 like butter.

Nothing is overpriced in today's market. It's all selling. If you think the prices will come down in the next five years, you need to do some reading. There has been such a huge supply chain interruption, we're looking at shortages for minimum half a decade, and that's without any more lockdowns. 'New normal' is here.
