So why can't the people start a currency in gold and silver? If ten people chipped in to melt their own and traded that locally with a larger group that traded beans for gold from one of original ten that had a gold coin but wanted beans? If that slowly accelerated, would it work?

I did a long reply to this (The long reply was lost in a misclick) explaining how I met Bernard Von Nothaus and how he made a gold silver copper monetary system equivalent in weight to approximate dollar amounts. They arrested him and ran him through kangaroo court and siezed all the metals. Read below

Other places have also done their own money or barter systems for local use. I know of 2 towns in France that do this. There is a whole movement for it:

It can be done but federal governments hate it so if you try, be careful.

Cool I know that government would come calling But by the time anything like this got notice, the communist America will be so demoralized that any feds that came calling would probably buy in and participate if offered. Otherwise they could be drowned/disappeared and nobody would care. The townsfolk will be passive aggressive toward the bureaucrats.

You'd be surprised how fast they notice this type of stuff. As far as resisting, if the town were large enough and the people tight, but I remember Waco.

If you just start your own bank, the media will claim you have weapons of mass destruction and send the U.S. military to bomb you.

That's exactly what they do. Its funny seeing just what abject impotent bootlickers modern politicians are.
