I think he got a surprise visit from a few of the 3 letter agencies, as far as I understood it wasn't a problem about funding, and he did not even try a smooth transition, giving it to someone else within the community, nor did he try out any other method beside nuking the entire page.

Can't blame the guy though, who knows what he had to lose if he did not do as he was told.
