I just read an article the other day of a nurse describing someone she watched dying suffocating alone with no family. If you're young and healthy there is no reason you can't be right there with your loved one. Talk about the most fucked up way to let a person die. The hospitals are calloused institutes of profit.
That only brings me to the conclusion that you should never ever ever visit a hospital unless it's a broken bone or something you can't ever treat at home. Stock up on supplies and learn basic CPR, wound stitching, EMT training, etc.
I've been at a hospital and watched nurses walk past a woman who was pouring blood out of her nose and mouth. I had to help her.

I have sutures, bandages, slings. I imagine the next time I go to the hospital I'm not making it out. You have more of a risk there than from just about any other leading cause of death.
