I guess we'll see where she lands. If she gets immediately scooped up for another multi-million dollar contract on another (((network))), then I'd have to guess the $69 million was a bonus for a job well done.
From all I read over the years since she left Fox, she's been a bad investment. Her show's ratings dropped and they were looking for a way to get rid of her. Her latest PC booboo gave them an excuse. They gotta pay up though, or end up in a long court battle over compensation. My guess is they're just cutting their loses and moving on.
Could be. No doubt she was a bad investment, but I wouldn't rule out that this is a midterm shenanigan either.
The publicity this has received has brought to mainstream consciousness the belief (true or fabricated) that public opinion deems any cross-racial halloween costume, under any circumstances, is unforgiveable. It won't surprise me when news outlets start covering more halloween costume racism in the following week, sowing racial divisions and reminding us all of the 'racial tensions that have been escalating ever since Donald Trump was elected president by white male, Republican voters.'
Democrats need minorities to vote for them in the midterms, so the way things unfolded with Megyn sets the media up nicely to bolster them this way. Not to mention, Kelly's exit seemed just a little too perfect. And she's been a political tool before, leaving Fox because of Trump support and sexism as publicly as possible, her book, the Rosy O' Donell question at that early debate.
We'll see what happens. That might shed some light either way.
