That is rarely ever the case since a virus naturally selected to survive will logically mutate to become less deadly to make it happen. The only times this seemingly does not occur is in movies where a spontaneous deadly mutation ushers in the downfall of civilization. As it stands, the only thing ushering the downfall is communism.
