There's a ton of army field manuals available for download from the Army Publishing Directorate website. There's a bunch of useless shit, but do some searching to find the useful ones. Tons on field medicine and hygiene, like first aid, how to set up field latrines.
Also look up Ditch Medicine - Advanced Field Procedures for Emergencies by Hugh L. Coffee.

Good book, as is the companion volume. Pocket size SAS survival Foxfire books The Way Things Work 1&2 Bible All fit in a smallish box, easy to move, yet could be priceless.
