In 1849, Frederick Douglass wrote a turgid piece claiming that blacks had built the entire USA on behalf of Whites who had never broken a sweat. He wrote this because he was triggered that Whites were thinking "hey, slavery kinda sucks, it's unproductive and dangerous so let's just have the government buy all our slaves and send them home to Africa" and DC was all "Yeah, y'know, that's probably a good idea." The guy also fantasized about a race war.
