Politics is the real opiate of the masses. To believe that anybody should be allowed to control the lives and fortunes of others, now that is madness and evil beyond compare. A simple belief in a creator is neither a good thing or a bad thing in and of itself. When ya try to force your opinion on others by force or fraud, it's no longer religion; it's politics.
