Can be true, especially since objective reality is something people are trained to avoid in this era. For example people give their dogs meds now for depression not realizing the evolutionary psychology/biology reason for an upset dog... it is likely due to not being walked enough, it doesn't have nuts or a uterus, it feels it doesn't contribute enough to the symbiotic relationship of man and dog, etc. Yet in this culture since it is detached from evolutionary biology it assumes, "Oh the dog just has a chem imbalance."
It's an unfortunate side effect of financial abundance. I'm sure ancient Greece or Rome also had similar delusions for their era at their peak.
Yeah man, seriously I hear all the time about how depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain, and while that is true that the brain can experience a physical ailment, nobody ever addresses why there's an imbalance.
A perfect analogy is giving a patient with heart disease some pills to control his blood pressure whilst completely ignoring that said patient is also 350lbs.
So basically, western medicine in a nutshell.
