Upvoated.
I read the whole Hacker News thread. They used a lot of words in that thread to say only one thing:
"I am afraid to be left alone by those around me."
hey fear being ostracized.
It took quite a few years to understand this quote:
“You are not your job, you're not how much money you have in the bank. You are not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You are not your fucking khakis. You are all singing, all dancing crap of the world.”
― Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club
To experience true freedom, it seems to me, that you first need to wrestle with pigs. Once you have won or lost a few matches, you turn around and see your fellow man in all of his true horror and glory.
They want the world to be clean and safe.
Sometimes it seems appealing to go live in the woods and get away from all the shit. Then you realize ain't nobody going to follow, especially not a female. Even if you brought a woman and had kids, they wouldn't be able to get anyone to follow. Hmm, maybe I could start a religious cult. I'm not trying to be Amish, but I must admit that did a good job keeping Jewish mind control boxes (TV) out by remaining primitive. I don't think we need to avoid having dishwashers and washer/dryer units for clothing.
dishwashers are entirely unnecessary.
I prefer my dishwashers to have tits and holes
Maybe you need to meet more females.
I have a girlfriend. I don't think she would like living in the woods.
Uh, there are women that are into that. You need to do a bit of work to find one but there are quite a few women that love that sort of thing.
Generally germans love that kind of thing. I know one German dude that worked in mining camps in remote parts of Canada, advertised and found a german woman that flew out on her own to meet him in the Yukon.
Women are weird.
I enjoyed that commentary. Well done.
I posted a version of this on hacker news minus the fightclub quote. 3 downvoats and they deleted the comment.
Completely predictable.
I found the thread fascinating. It's reasonably intelligent people who've been completely propagandized trying to deal with the cognitive dissonance and justify their status quo positions.
"Are you sure Chairman Kim Jung Il invented farming, I would have thought it existed for hundreds of years?"
"Of course he did comrade, here is a link to the wikipedia."
"Oh, I see, thanks comrade. Farming being such a new invention explains why there isnt enough food, hopefully they'll work out the kinks soon."
Never a single thought that wikipedia might not be 100% accurate.
