We've heard this before from Voat about shutting down, but if it really does this time, there may well be a huge refugee surge here. There is always a worry about changing the culture with too many newcomers. Lots of negative myths about Poal there on Voat. They seem to think that this isn't a free speech site.

On Voat, I never downvoated because it was abused (disagree button). That may well be the most difficult part of assimilation for refugee goats. Be easy on them, they'll be adjusting. Many of them are good people.

I've seen it voiced enough times there today so that I'm convinced there is, at the very least, an understanding by most Voaters that this isn't our space. Trust me, Voat has dealt with enough of its own refugee crises to recognize how powerfully fucking annoying they can be. Goats have a manner of speaking that's, ah, to the point, but they are good people for the most part.

I was going to post about this. We all need to be conscious that we are coming en mass to a new ecosystem and best efforts should be made to preserve and contribute.

Yeah I know. I lurked at voat since alpha (Chairman Pao banning FPH)

The Fattening is also when I left Reddit. I'll obviously be in good company here.

Same boat. Not because FPH was a sub that I spent much of any time in, but because it clearly crossed the line of restricting free speech. I didn't think there was any site with as few restrictions on speech as Voat, so I never had a reason to leave. I kinda wish I had checked this place out sooner. There's quite a few usernames I recognize from the olden days.
