We've heard this before from Voat about shutting down, but if it really does this time, there may well be a huge refugee surge here. There is always a worry about changing the culture with too many newcomers. Lots of negative myths about Poal there on Voat. They seem to think that this isn't a free speech site.

On Voat, I never downvoated because it was abused (disagree button). That may well be the most difficult part of assimilation for refugee goats. Be easy on them, they'll be adjusting. Many of them are good people.

Yes, that was kind of my point. By "give it time" I mean this population won't always be as small as it is now, especially with Voat's imminent closure, and so the ratio of constructive debate to venting rage is likely to get smaller.
