One of the things I was taught years ago by a small company I worked for was that a business shouldn't make a political statement, the business is there to sell things. You get fair-weather customers by making a statement, but they desert you the minute the cause changes, unless you make another statement. It has the effect of annoying your loyal customers that just want to buy stuff from you, which is what Adafruit did to me. Make statements on your own time.

Make sure to send them an e-mail saying why you are cancelling.

I did.

Same here. I'm sure it will fall on deaf ears, though. These kind of people will double down and virtue signal their business into the ground.

"Dear Adafruit. Cancel my account forthwith because I am a racist. Sincerely, Stupidbird"

Relax, is joke (unless you really are a racist in which case nice to meet you brother)

I hadn't heard of them before this, what do they do/sell?

Mainly raspberry pi boards and accessories.

The company sells Arduino and related equipment like components, kits, and etc. They also dabble in Raspberry Pi stuff.
