Many people in those islands were more than happy to get the money from the NGOs and the government, so they didn't mind the situation till it was too late. Now they realized that they face extinction and decided to protest.

In this case, the communists are clearly pro-immigration, yet they somehow claim that they oppose the government's decision because they actually want the illegals to be transferred to the mainland.
