I think the machines we create will inevitably no longer need us and probably decide (rightfully so) to remove us for being parasites destroying the planet.
See, I don't think that will be the case. I think as we build said machines— we'll become said machines: self-improvement— the definition of evolution. We'll replace our lower-selves, over time, with a much more evolved version. But it won't be an eradication: it'll be a transformation.
If we become the Machines, we still eliminate Humanity.
Not really. We redefine humanity, not eliminate it. Would you consider the change from us being single-celled organisms to what we are today an act of eradication?
