This is mostly through observation but my working theory is that stupid people and stressed people are uncomfortable with their own thoughts and need to drown them out with music.

Just something I've noticed over the years is that low intelligence people seem to constantly have music playing so as to avoid conversation

I wear my earbuds a lot with no music. It's a nonverbal signal that I don't want to talk.

like just walking 5 minutes they need a song. It's unnatural

In the age of podcasts, it's not always music.
