The less they do the better, completely agree. Refrigeration is useful. There's ways to have natural ventilation. A tall toroidal tower like structure for instance, will have natural ventilation during the day. The sun heats up the air around the hollow tower, the tower producing shade has cooler denser air, which flows through exits at ground level into the hotter less dense air surrounding the tower.
