I’m a pretty good example of what I’m saying. Out of high school, tried college, it wasn’t for me. I got a job as a helper for an electrician. Did that until he trusted me to be on my ownafter a couple years. I opened my own shop. Started installing network cabling, got aquired by a bigger competitor, started doing network cable plant design work, this company got acquired buy a bigger public company. Left and went to work for a network service provider as an engineer then in sales. Did that a while now I am a leader in corporate IT. It was will, determination, and luck, but I went from a minimum wage newbie to an executive… a straight, white, god fearing, conservative leader.
