That's absolutely true. I appreciate the insight. I'll be honest, I'm trapped in ancient history and ancient philosophy and it's such a vast subject that I rarely venture further out, because I believe none of it really changes (Just takes on different forms).
I know China did not magically pop from being a world super power to being communist. My critique is more centered around National Socialists who tend to take the "bug men" meme and apply it retroactively, which I think is a gross mischaracterization.
The uncomfortable truth is they weren't so different from us. In my eyes they simply went through the cycle before anybody else, and we're following the exact same trajectory as they did. They're ahead of us, not behind. And their present day will be our future if we don't reverse course.
I think this is a much healthier way of viewing events.
