At the end of WWII, they literally rounded-up every ethnic German, from across Europe, and moved them all, with one suitcase each, to the now reduced-sized Germany. They were not compensated for their homes, land, etc. They were put on trains and forced to move to a county that most had never even visited. They don't tell you that in High School. They also, by law, cannot make claims or ask for compensation for their lost property, to this day.
