I think that's great. When I was younger, all I cared about was max weight. Then I injured both shoulders from bad form/too much weight. I'm not far from 60 now, and I work out 5-6 days a week...not worrying about the weight and maintaining proper form.

The gains will come, and they'll come a lot sooner than they would if you hurt yourself by doing it wrong. You gotta do what works for you.

This is the smart way to go about it. You will be less likely to get hurt working out. Tearing a muscle can hurt like fuck, and, depending which part of your body is useless for a while, can make you pretty useless for a good chunk of time.

I've used the 3x5 workout before. It's a solid routine.

I only move up when i can hit a thousand in one go. Big muscles are for posers lean are for hardworking men.

Bad form = injuries at heavy weight. Seems like a good perspective to have. I'm not sure how that interferes with your bodys adaptation processes though. Do you ever struggle to move up weight after you've achieved your desired form?

No, what I'll end up doing is 3 sets of less than 5 reps until I do 3x5, then improve form until comfortable with moving up

If you can't do 1x1 with excellent form, then you need to drop weight.
