They used mobile jet engines to put out oil well fires in kuwait after the gulf war. The russians even have a twin engine version mounted of a deuce-and-a-half. They do exist and they will tear shit up with ease. You think it's dumb even though it's real. You probably believe in space lasers, Tesla earthquake machines and other silly things that have never been proven to be real/effective.

Have you heard of a crazy invention called a helicopter? Some of them can fly in heavy equipment an place it wherever they need it. Evacuations are also a thing so if everyone was forced to leave, who's going to hear/see it?
It's a far more logical and feasible concept than space lasers but I don't hear you calling out people talking about space lasers...
