I've seen photos out of CA, Canada, and Maui that appear to be concentrated light bursts, prior to the fires, that look remarkably like an energy weapon. That's why my thoughts drift to that type of weapon

A visible laser of sufficient power to start fires like that from space would not resemble those wispy beams that are shown in the videos. Visible laser has very distinct characteristics and would appear different on video than what was shown. Even the best lasers would have a lot of beam divergence from such an altitude and would not appear like in the videos. Lasers of high power don't burn things. They cause ablation which is evaporation of solid materials to vapors. Ablation of organic materials like wood produces white hot incandescent light that is very bright. My 40 Watt CO2 laser cutter will light up the garage when I cut wood in it. Those videos don't show wood ablation light. It's intense. I've worked with visible and invisible lasers extensively over my years. Nothing about any of those beam videos matches what lasers do IRL. Most of those videos captured lens flare artifacts from a bright light source in the scene and not a laser beam. Most people wouldn't even recognize an invisible laser doing its thing to organic materials if they were not told there was one in the video. Lasers don't follow (((hollyweird))) movie scripts.
