Sure, it's convenient when it works, but you can no longer assume it will work when you need it. Power your home using a generator or batteries and an inverter. 20Kwh should be enough to keep your house going for a day or two or possibly 3. Keep enough gas/diesel for a week or more. If you don't, you will freeze because your heating system requires electricity. A wood stove is great too. It requires no public infrastructure. If you don't do this, I'm not going to be so sympathetic because you think big government is going to help you. We're on our own. But then I'm preaching to the choir on Poal.
