Sat through a lot of a “smartest guy in the room” talk from a guy who doesn’t even realize the “left/right” political paradigm is almost entirely farcical.
I just liked the aesthetic.
It’s certainly a style found in a lot of videos now. Anime discussion channels such as Gigguk use similar methods.
The part that bugged me on this one was that the video stopped cold in its tracks to feed Trump derangement because he wanted his woke good boy head pats. He didn’t name Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, or even Jimmy Saville out loud, offering instead only quick cuts barely showing the first two. He didn’t call out Hillary’s pre-opened pickle jar as outright propaganda, but followed the idiotic narrative that “humanizing” a human they disagreed with was “irresponsible.”
The insights about Max Headroom weren’t terribly insightful, either. I was waiting for some big reveal, and it never came. What? The joke was that Max Headroom was intended to lampoon white guys on TV during a time when other media outlets were still pretending they liked white guys (sort of)? You don’t say?!?
This isn’t a criticism of OP. This is simply an observation about the video and its ironic role in continuing to dumb down the dialogue by amping the rhetoric. He doesn’t even realize that his own beloved YouTube, source of his income and “platform” for his videos, is rapidly and vapidly whittling away at choice just like the “evil cable companies” (who were, and remain, evil), meaning that he’s just another insincere, ill-informed himbo, just like the talk show hosts he sort of dislikes, but won’t have the balls to directly describe as water boys for the jewish elites.
So, yeah, a 38 minute video about people missing the point by somebody who misses multiple points himself is amusing for its aneurysm inducing lack of self-assessment, but little more than that.
I'm not offended. Thank you for the discussion. I barely even remember this show. I was a baby when it came out. I remember the character, but I never knew what it was from. I saw somebody post this here the other day and liked the aesthetic. I pretty much came to the same conclusion you did. The TDS is cringe, especially trying to equate Trump and the Proud Boys with being Nazis.
