I paid cash at the supermarket on Monday. $7.87. I handed her a ten. I just expected $2.13 in change to be a given. She got confused and hit the wrong button when I didn't swipe a card, and the cash drawer opened. I guess that's a show stopper. It won't print a receipt if she can't do... something. She couldn't void the transaction without the manager, who was having a dinner break. I said "I don't need a receipt, so you can just give me my change and I'll go." She couldn't do that, because the register didn't tell her how much. She had to go get a calculator, because she thought I was joking when I said "Two Thirteen" without hesitating. She laughed and left. While waiting, the lady behind me said "Well not EVERYONE pays with cash. They don't get any practice making change." Apparently I'm the dick for thinking a cashier would know second grade math.

Sorry. Paying cash is a never-ending source of sad stories.
