I agree with the short leash theory
Completely agree.
Never mind replacement batteries are basically impossible to get and cost as much as your vehicle. EVs bring planned obsolescence of less than 10 years. In other words, in ten years after broad adoption, they are planning for large swaths of people to be entirely without transportation. Or they expect those people will be dead.
They have been quite open with their plans. If they allow you to live. 1. You will own nothing, and be happy. 2. You will eat the bugs. 3. You will live in a pod. 4. You will take the boosters.
Wait until you start thinking about the COVID lockdowns and how the government would benefit from you having an EV instead of an ICE.
Apparently, I'm not the only one thinking this way.
I lived in north Dakota for about 8 yrs and the thought of going anywhere in an EV is unsafe. We would go weeks below 0 imagine getting stuck out there in bumfuck and the only heat would be off batteries
Just carry 50 megajoules of electricity with you. Simpleas!
You'd at least want a diesel generator in the boot, just to run a heater if you ran out of juice.
No shit.
By every measurable standard except for maybe baseline acceleration, EV’s are worse than their combustion counterparts.
People are so fucking stupid.
You forgot the most important aspect: virtue signaling.
Thats all this is - along with masks and being brownshirts for the gov apparatus.
The virtue signaling is not an end though, it is another part of the control mechanism. Virtue signaling is a part of the thought control mechanism, it is used to shame people who do not go along with the "virtuous" thing into compliance. People who do the "virtuous" thing, even if it is objectively wrong, are praised. People who do not are shamed, even if what they do is objectively correct.
It can also be used as a demoralization tactic, in that forcing people who do not buy in to the "virtue" being signaled are coerced into at least paying lip service to it. If you ever encounter this, do not give in and speak what you know to be a lie. That is possibly the most powerful tool of demoralization. At the very least, even if you can't actively state the truth, do not repeat a lie.
Violence does not lay its paw on every shoulder every day: it demands from us only obedience to lies and daily participation in lies. And this submissiveness is the crux of the matter. The simplest and most accessible key to our self-neglected liberation is this: personal non-participation in lies. Though lies may conceal everything, though lies may control everything, we should be obstinate about this one small point: let them be in control but without any help from any of us. This opens a breach in the imaginary encirclement caused by our inaction. It is the easiest thing for us to do and the most destructive for the lies. Because when people renounce lies it cuts short their existence. Like a virus, they can survive only in a living organism. - A.I. Solzhenitsyn - Live not by lies.
Great stuff, this entire thread/post.
Number 1 : they can be remotely controlled, disabled, etc..
RIP Andrew Breitbart.
Yep, this is also why I believe cars with manual transmissions are being phased out. The cars can't drive themsleves. Also why drive by wire is in place everywhere. Even the shifters aren't actually moving a cable, they are buttons. So if your car decides to drive you to the police station or off a cliff, you can't even physically shift it into neutral, use the emergency brake or even unlock the car.
Good points.
It's also why Biden is having disabling systems put into all vehicles as well. Say something they don't like and poof you're walking.
I find it interesting when people argue about the amount of additional mining that would be required to transition everybody on to EVs.
I think the problem with that line of thinking is the assumption that they want to replace ALL current cars with electric. They don't. They want to drastically (by 95% or more) reduce the number of cars available. EVs simply do not make sense as individual transport for the masses, the infrastructure requirements are incredible. They will use "mass market" EVs as a means to cease, and outlaw, the production and use of ICE vehicles. Once ICE vehicles have been removed, a new "emergency" will occur, in which they "realize" that the number of EVs is not sustainable, rationing will commence and it will be harder and harder to obtain a "license" to even use one, let alone buy one.
Instead, they want the vast majority of the population (that survives) confined within large cities where they will be restricted to only a small part of that city. Zones with minimal overlap will be created, ensuring that people living in one part of the city cannot get organic information about what is happening in other parts, they will be reliant on heavily censored and likely totally fabricated "official" information. A technological dystopian prison, one in which you can live a superficially happy life, as long as you have no desire for freedom and never question the actions of the "leaders"
I agree.
EVs make sense in a city. They make sense literally nowhere else.
They aren't for everyone. But if you have a short commute an ev can be useful. Cheaper to run, great performance. Not everyone values range. Most people carry a smartphone with a camera, microphone and GPS so connected to a server isn't an issue for most people.
I wouldn't get one, they don't suit me, I'm more than happy with my petrol engine car
Try making your own gas when they shut down an oil pipeline. Then try and make your own electricity if the power is out. Now tell me which one more effectively prevents your movement.
There's nothing about electric cars that makes them easier to geofence or control. GM had been doing this with their gas vehicles for decades.
You have a good point. Diesel engines will be the most useful because diesel can be made in a SHTF scenario, or at the very least wood gas can be made off-grid in a SHTF scenario.
I think in a proper SHTF scenario, a carburetor petrol engine would be the most useful. These can readily be converted to run on syngas (woodgas), which can be generated with basic technology (a crude syngas generator can be made from a few old drums and pipes).
The problem with biodiesel will be obtaining the other reagents. In a SHTF scenario, you won't be able to go to the store and get NaOH or Methanol. These are things that you could make yourself, but require a bit of expertise and effort. As things settled down a bit, perhaps people might start to make biodiesel as a small business/side hustle. Another issue here would be oil availability. Currently, seed oils like canola are relatively cheap, this is only possible due to large scale mechanized farming of them. In a SHTF scenario, where you had to manually plant, harvest and process the seeds to get the oil, the quantity generated would be small, and highly valuable as a lubricant, or for finishing wood products, etc.
For that reason, I'd go with a non-fuel injected petrol engine that is pre-computer control era. Those are getting harder and harder to get hold of though. The .gov is likely to actively ban such engines. They are aware of these scenarios. Need to keep an eye out for a suitable engine and store it somewhere out of sight of prying eyes.
Much to do to prepare... need to stop procrastinating.
For sure
Solar power, until the panels need to be replaced.
Still solar is an EV, reliant on favorable temperatures and sun light. Not reliant on the grid though.
