It's a massive win politically
It proves the governor was completely off the mark to begin with, with his state of emergency, that an armed citizenry isn't the terror threat they are painted to be, and that an extraordinary .gov powered security isn't even required for things to remain peaceful
If someone or a couple of people got shot, it would have turned into a disaster though, politically, the exact opposite, as in "look! That's what happens with guns! Ban guns now!"
