Are they cow elks because they are domesticated? So reindeer are really just cow deer?
Looked it up. A cow can refer to the mature female of any kind of cattle. The rein in reindeer specifically refers to domestication. So these are also reinelk.
Cows are the females. Bulls are the males.
But when referring to the type of animal "cows" both are cows in that case because that qualifies as a second definition of cow. I was confused because my brain went straight for the kind of animal rather than the other use.
I’m just saying female elk are cows and male elk are bulls.
