Maybe and might consider changing the downvote arrow to something different. saidit, net uses a smiley face that counts as 1/2 of an upvote, instead of a downvote button. That seems like a pretty friendly system that keeps things positive and might discourage angry commies from jumping onboard.
Not a bad idea, except it would reward ad spammers that they do encourage down votes for as a way to flag spam.
The fact that we can see the username that down votes is a great deterrent, too.
I like the way they handle this stuff here though overall. I've never been a big down voter, like what's the point, it's just worthless internet points, if I don't like someone's stuff, I just don't up vote ... but some folks get all pissed off about such things.

I'm looking at the sidebar, and I see +7|-1, but I don't see any way to be able to tell who voted down.
Once your a Level 6 - the number in the big circle in your profile, there's a thing that say's something like [Vote Details] if you open the comments section of a post. LVL 6 doesn't take long though ... and vote details only shows the username of the down votes, not up votes. It's a neat feature.
So we here at poal.co(myself and AOU and the users) we like giving the community the ability to curate spam. Thats why we leave th downvote button as it is. We discourage people from using it as an "I disagree button"
