This ain't a GenZ problem, it's a worthless parent problem. If your kid don't know how to use a can opener, it's because you never showed him how, and made him open cans til he remembers how. If he don't know how to do his laundry, clean his apartment, or wipe his arse....it's because you been too damn busy doing it for him. You had 18 friggin years to make him self-sufficient, so if he is applying for squatters rights to your basement, it's on you.
