I'm Czech and we were generally respected by the Germans as my grandmother explained when I asked her what she thought of WW2 and before and after. Hitler wanted to assimilate Czechs as we were in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Hitler was angry at Slavs due to the Tannenberg or AKA Battle of Grunwald July 15, 1410. I read an interesting book about how they've pieced together how the battle went down. It was a major defeat for the Teutonic Knights. Here is a good quoted summary:
