It is absolutely untrue that anyone can verify the ball Earth model, which requires "spacetime" itself to be "curved" by mass and that the curvature is indistinguishable from acceleration. Oh yeah sure, General Relativity is established science that 99% of physicists agree on and it also happens to be so advanced you need several college courses (but no labs, lol) to understand. But trust us, the math is beautiful; nevermind we can't reconcile it with quantum mechanics which has way more evidence.
What is verifiable by anyone though is that NASA lied and still continues to lie to us: obviously shopped moon photos, harnesses and green screens on the ISS, air bubbles in spacewalks, hundreds of thousands of probe photos not released, 95% of newer raw photos blurry and unrecognizable.
The important part of skepticism is to be skeptical of your self as well as everyone else. You aren't applying enough of that sort of analysis in your evaluation.
For example, when I go down an elevator 40 floors to the parking garage to get into my car, I get out of the elevator and walk in mostly empty space. The entire 40+ floors of concrete are supported by teeeeeny tiny fucking steel beams encased in some man made concrete. I sometimes look up at the parking garage conrete and try to image an xray vision of all 40+ floors, all of the furniture, the people, the pipes, the water, the natural gas, the people taking showers and dipping into bath tubs, the piano on the music room at the top and all the excercise equipment + balcony at the very top right above me.
All of that is supported not by a giant block of concrete, but some steel beams encased in concrete that transfer all of that mass into the really shitty columns made of steel that were pile driven into the GROUND not too deep below the base of the building.

I drive a car that is now almost 20 years old. It's super low mileage, not abused by me and by the previous owner and it runs perfect. I maintain it like crazy and baby it so it will last even longer because I really like it. Just thinking about humans being able to make all the the materials and each of the components in this car, put it together, make it not only work but work basically perfectly for 20 years and be able to sell it for profit ... staggers the imagination.
You are right they are lying and support your skepticism, however, our universe has cause and effect which means it is computable. A computable universe can be measured and anything that can be computed and measured can, more or less, be explored with mathematics, logic and symbolic representation. I too reject the language scientists use to describe things like space-time, but proving the earth is round is trivial, you just measure the shadow of fixed length stick in different parts of the world at a specific time of the day/year and use trigonometry to get the answer.

Next time you're in a jet at 36,000' on a clear day, observe the horizon is about 3-1/2° below level. You need a level reference such as a water surface or pendulum, you need to be unaccelerated so level is referenced to gravity, and it must be clear enough to actually see a land horizon. This observation checks with the trig where the diameter of a sphere is about 4000 n.m. and you are 6 n.m. above it.
Another observation you can make is that converging air traffic at a lower altitude will appear above the horizon when distant. Level traffic 1000' below when you're in the 30's will cross the horizon at just over 3 miles distance before passing under you. This is consistent with the horizon being below horizontal because you're looking down at a sphere.
Another is that climbing at sunset will make the sun rise again. This is consistent with sphere shape of earth and you peeking over the hump.
Yet another is that a tall tree or radio tower that is below you will appear above the horizon when distant. A tree on the horizon literally stands above it.
Yet another is that ships on the level sea surface disappear from the bottom-up as they sail away.

Well, the speed of light is settled. So much so that nothing in our universe can exceed the speed of light. Another way of saying speed of light is causality. Our universe has a maximum causality speed and that is settled science.
Also, settled science is really not what it sounds like. Settled science sounds like a pantheon of uber mench get together and just agree on things. Settle science, for anything that can be settled like the speed of causality, just means that the precision with which we can measure the specific claims and predictions being made are so precise that the likelyhood of them actually ever being proven wrong is so close to zero as to be insignificant for the purposes of making additional claims.
Settled science is just a statement about the tolerance of the measurements being made, not really about agreement between humans in lab coats.
However, yes, a lot of people use the term in the way you suggest, as we have seen with the claims around social science, global warming and the gene therapy disaster they pushed out.

And the amount of supposed curvature in any base 10 miles is equivalent to 666.
1 mile = .666 feet of curve 10 miles = 66.6 feet of curve 100 miles = 6666 feet of curve.
The supposed diameter of the moon is 2160 miles which is 6x6x60, the average distance to the moon 239,000 miles is 6x60x666, the earths circumference is equal to 6x6x600 nautical miles and on and on.
And the whopper- if you do a base 26 alphabet cipher and add up the letters of National Aeronautics and Space Administration, it equals 666. How many coincidences does it take before it becomes mathematically impossible for it to be just coincidence?
well we use base 60 for time based on measuring the earth's rotation. 60 x 6 = 360 aka a full rotation. so that's probably why we get so many 666, 606 etc. things with measurements. i'm not smart enough to figure out if that's true or not but sounds plausible.
