Guy's body language was screaming "I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN DO THIS, I'M AFRAID". A good friend/instructor should've picked up on this. Maybe load one bullet at a time until you're sure the guy can maintain control over the weapon, that's how I'd do it.

44 with an actual barrel ok it doesn't even have recoil to speak of. This is a short barrel casull
