Illness first, then cats. There is balance in nature. Just as the poison dart frog's bright colors serve as a warning to all the other animals in the jungle, "Danger, do not touch." The, "Abbie-something", brain is compelled to find a way to make it's presence known as a warning to the observant.
Or from having cats and being infected with the well known parasite that ends up residing in the brain and is said to change/ alter cognitive ability/ function and behaviour - toximosis or something something.
Toxoplasmosis.
Ah yeah thanks, that's the one. Not a cat person - all the females in the family are - and they're all 'not quite right in the head' . Coincidence - maybe .
