Why wait until the 23rd when they could just say, "hey, tomorrow, all trucks go on strike!"

Because unless he has a leadership role and comms to the rest of the truckers saying 'fuck it I'm not showing up to work tomorrow and neither shall you' is probably going to result in the nothingburger you're anticipating.

You don't need a leadership role for a strike or a sick out. I am not in a leadership roll I manage to get enough people to call in sick at my work place over the weekend to force the management to fill the spots and they where still short . It all has to do with respect.

What leadership role does anyone have? There isn't one head-trucker that makes this decision. This is an individual decision amongst 30,000 or so unvaccinated truckers and some unknown number of vaccinated ones who might be opposed to vaccine mandates.

What you described is exactly what he should do -- if he's calling for a strike, then he needs to lead it. Most people do not want to be leaders, and do not want to be the first ones to resist. Most people are followers. He needs to take the risk that no one will follow his lead. That's one of the costs of being a leader -- you take responsibility for what the people under you do or fail to do.

Most people do not want to be leaders, and do not want to be the first ones to resist. Most people are followers.

On the contrary, everybody wants to lead. But most people don't want to follow just anybody. Just being the first one to resist is meaningless if you haven't ensured there will be a second.

You have to network with people first and establish yourself as a known and respected figure. Then you call a strike. But until those 30k truckers start organizing properly it's very unlikely any strikes will be effective.

They might want to lead, but they are too chicken-shit to do so, is the point I was making. So while they might have a fantasy in their heads, in reality, they are not leaders but are followers. They require someone to act first and then they can join in. We see this when we go to the store unmasked and other people see us not wearing a mask and take theirs off.

There is on way to "ensure" there will be a second, because people back out and ghost all the time. Especially in the age of the internet where all our communication is done over social media and we never meet other people in person.

I'm sorry, but no one has to be a "respected person" or "established" in order to call a strike. They just need to be sincere and demonstrate that they will do what they say they will do, and they need other people who agree with the position and are willing to follow.

There is not much that needs to be done in order to organize since they're not all going to get together in the same place. They all have different routes and are in different positions across two different countries. They just need a time and date to start striking and they can do so.

Engage in a strike of one person.

You don't seem to know how strikes work.

These truckers aren't all working for one company, so it wouldn't be a "strike" in the sense that you seem to be implying.

Most of them are independent operators or working for one of dozens or hundreds of other small companies.
