Not the first time a trucker has called for a strike since the corona-scam started, but I doubt anyone will actually follow through, because these truckers are apparently uncoordinated or perhaps cowardly. I don't know, but I predict unfortunately that nothing will come of this. Why wait until the 23rd when they could just say, "hey, tomorrow, all trucks go on strike!"

they always plan strikes so it doesnt affect them, in the US they like to plan them on a friday after they pick up a load which means dick as no one is affected and they dont have to worry about their jobs, contracts, or get nailed for "holding a load hostage"

In the US they would also fire you then mark your strike actions on your DaC report resulting in any company that actually cares about the DaC wouldn't hire you. DaC is basically an illegal black list to keep drivers from working

this Canadian guy is talking about striking on a sunday, not sure how it affects Canada but US side it would again mean nothing.

Only strike that ever did anything was when trump was in office and they all sat there blasting their air horns for a week straight. Nothing ever came of that due to when their complaints were investigated they had signed all their rights away to the companies and brokers they were working for.

only way a trucking strike would work (speaking on US federal regulations) they'd all have to have no load before going on strike to break no federal law.

Bingo. Plus, it's hard enough getting two drivers to agree on where to stop for coffee, much less a shutdown. Add in the mega carriers and foreigners that will just take the freight anyway, and it's just not going to happen.

I imagine he said two weeks out so the word can spread.

I think it's too long. Even a week is too long. It takes almost no time at all for word to spread these days via social media / telegram / etc.

Giving people two weeks to plan and think it over is two weeks for government workers to comb through the various social platforms and get the details of organized strike locations and people involved in them and have them arrested or silenced to avoid the strike happening.

trucking companies are very effective at preventing such things

Why wait until the 23rd when they could just say, "hey, tomorrow, all trucks go on strike!"

Because unless he has a leadership role and comms to the rest of the truckers saying 'fuck it I'm not showing up to work tomorrow and neither shall you' is probably going to result in the nothingburger you're anticipating.

You don't need a leadership role for a strike or a sick out. I am not in a leadership roll I manage to get enough people to call in sick at my work place over the weekend to force the management to fill the spots and they where still short . It all has to do with respect.

What leadership role does anyone have? There isn't one head-trucker that makes this decision. This is an individual decision amongst 30,000 or so unvaccinated truckers and some unknown number of vaccinated ones who might be opposed to vaccine mandates.

What you described is exactly what he should do -- if he's calling for a strike, then he needs to lead it. Most people do not want to be leaders, and do not want to be the first ones to resist. Most people are followers. He needs to take the risk that no one will follow his lead. That's one of the costs of being a leader -- you take responsibility for what the people under you do or fail to do.

Most people do not want to be leaders, and do not want to be the first ones to resist. Most people are followers.

On the contrary, everybody wants to lead. But most people don't want to follow just anybody. Just being the first one to resist is meaningless if you haven't ensured there will be a second.

You have to network with people first and establish yourself as a known and respected figure. Then you call a strike. But until those 30k truckers start organizing properly it's very unlikely any strikes will be effective.

Engage in a strike of one person.

You don't seem to know how strikes work.

Whilst I don't disagree with what you are saying, the media in canada is sounding out a vaccine mandate for truckers.
