How private are companies that take billions in taxpayer governmental subsidies? Additionally, you are missing the hypocracy in your own post where you first say the carrier has wisely decided to comply with the FAA’s ridiculous mask mandate or face its own wrath (the FAA’s), waaaaat? Maybe you deserve that thing next to your username.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) does not have the authority to require most airline passengers to wear face masks during flights. “...the FAA may lack the authority to require masks in flight. “The FAA, as an aviation safety regulator, does not possess general public health expertise or police powers.” The airlines themselves are enforcing the masks, so back to square one.

That's why the regulation comes from TSA.

Well, I'm going to go march my ass right into a GM plant since they're public property. I might stop by Raytheon while I'm at it.

You do realize that any aircraft in the US that flies without the permission of the FAA gets shot down, right? So every airliner MUST comply with FAA regulations. Which means no smoking in the bathrooms and masks on everyone, those aren’t choices that the owner of the airplane can make

That isn't true at all. You do not need FAA's permission to fly and you certainly aren't shot down if you did so without their permission.

Some charter flights allow you to smoke on board and the rich fly all over the country with no masks.

You absolutely need FAA permission to fly in FAA airspace. Sure you can fly a prop plane at low altitude, but if you’re in the jet stream and the FAA doesn’t want you there, you’re going down; whether it’s because you followed their orders and landed or because you didn’t and they killed you.

And smoking on a commercial flight is a

The US government began to phase out smoking in 1988, and by 2000, it was prohibited on all US flights. The rest of the world followed suit, and today — on paper, at least — smoking is banned on all commercial flights.

Some charter flights allow you to smoke on board and the rich fly all over the country with no masks.

This is like saying “underage drinking isn’t illegal, bartenders serve kids without getting caught all the time”
