In 1977, while visiting my sister stationed at a USAF base in Britain, she was a crew chief for the A-10 Thunderbolt II warthog. She mentioned that their base had a secret jet that only flew in and out of the bunker at night and that all runway area lights were turned off at such times. It was the Blackbird. Still totally secret back then.

I've seen the one kept at the USAF museum. These are incredible machines.

a lot of people seem to think now is the height of technology, but that era was the peak of analog computing. we may be masters of digital computing, but the people then could make op amps do ballet.
