This is legit.

I have Asian neighbors.

When they greeted me for the first time, had a very watered down version of the vid where they flex their life's accomplishments when you first meet. And their parents' accomplishments are seen as the childrens'. Their father is a professor of 25+ years at an Ivy League school. He asked me if I got an education and asked a ton questions about that. I have 5, four-year degrees (I enjoyed learning, researching, and writing papers*). That made the dad's jaw drop. haha Then they asked my profession, how much I make, etc. They are very open about that stuff.

Now I'm the coolest person ever to them because I have money and status. They are now super respectful and happy when they see me (going out of their way to say hello). A good job with a good company with a good job title are genuine status symbols to them. I understand that, too: you want you kids to prosper and do thing you can be proud of. And in many Asian cultures, what you do reflects on your family so you don't bring shame to your family.

*Very proud of my accomplishments. It took a lot of work to get to where I am, today. I have had no white privilege I keep hearing about. Born into a poor family. Studied, worked hard, and made something of myself.

Sounds honest and direct to me. No bullshit. If it offends people maybe they should level the fuck up.

Hmm...

No-nonsense take. I like it.
