Yes, it's not deployed anywhere, it's a prototype (since a while now...), and while I definitely prefer the virtually-unlimited-amo-belt-fed-auto-turret-gatling type of guns like the phalanx, as mutlipurpose anti air gun, the underlying principle of this one isn't that retarded, imo I'm thinking about missile interception. Not ICBMs, to be clear. Rather smaller types, coming in droves, and exocet type of stuffs also comes to mind. Things against which some computer controlled mid/close range defense bursting a literall wall of metal in a split second might be the ideal solution to prevent any direct hit, sort of last line of defense if you wish That's the best use case I can think of for those things, it's definitely not fit for shoulder carrying
