It could be that it was a short winter - we had absolutely no summer where I live. Usually we get 45 degrees C for a week + at least 2 or 3 times, and high 30s for the rest of the season, didn't have a day over 38, and I can count the days over 30 on both hands... for THREE months. It was nuts. We already have winter weather. So I imagine if this shit is happening down under, the opposite could be happening up above. Trying to be logical... but hey, if yellowstone goes, so does most of the "woke" areas of the US.

Here at the 42nd north parallel, it does seem exactly how you describe. We usually get some nasty winters, snow up to the waist at times. Not this year, though. We had exactly one week of actual winter this year (where the temperature actually goes below 0F (-17C). It snowed twice (where snow actually accumulated), just a few inches 1st time and 6-9 inches second time. That's it. Now the weatherman says it's going to be 70F (room temp) next week, when it's usually only barely getting above freezing this time of year.
