Even more reason they shouldn't be outside, but I guess if you like finding your cat's heads in your yard by all means.
Rule of thumb: If a barn cat ain't safe there, then neither are your other critters, especially your chickens. You ever country, boy?
The kind of countryin' I've done involved keeping your chickens in a chicken coop at night. Ive never heard of sending your family pets out as bait to test for chicken safety. Maybe we were doing it wrong.
I guess a city boy like you has never noticed that the chickens are up and about before the Sun is, and that cats do their rodent hunting at dawn and dusk. You were definitely pretending to be from the country wrong, poseur boy.
