Listen to yourself: "Ecosystem." It's a RANCH, stupid. The ecosystem is 100% planned and maintained, top to bottom, by the human in charge. Any outsider, like the coyote, is the "non-native species." Including birds, rats, whatever the fuck is trying to eat his animals' feed or steal his crops.
Do you think that carefully-bred sheep, chickens, cows, horses, goats, and whatnot are native species? If not, then why the fuck would a rancher allow something from the surrounding ecology infiltrate and eat that stock?
This is entirely on the coyotes. They knew exactly what they were doing when they fucked around, and they found out. Any "replacement coyotes" will behave more circumspectly or will also wind up in the back of the pickup truck. Riunse, repeat, until the local coyotes respect that rancher's territory. Same with birds, which are obviously typically smarter than you, since they do fine when they stick to their actual native habitats rather than try to scavenge from humans in cities, suburbs, and farms. Again you're intentionally missing the point. I'm not referring to this specific ranch. And besides that a ranch is simply a destination of property. It's still part of an ecosystem. Other domesticated animals don't predate on native animals.
