Some years ago there were some videos like this one making rounds in the social media. It turned out that the photographer chained the dogs on purpose to take the cute pictures. The polar bears toyed with the dogs for a while and then ate them.

The cuteness lasts as long as the polar bear is not hungry, making this very irresponsible. If things went bad here, you'd have two choices and two only. If you have no weapon, you're going to watch a dog (who had no say in the matter, and no means of escape) get eaten alive. If you have a weapon, then you might choose to kill the bear to save the dog despite the fact that the polar bear did nothing wrong other than to act according to its own instinct.
