Bending down to grab stones can be a deadly bad idea depending on what wildlife is threatening you. It’s a sign of submission and a green light for most predators.
Running away is even worse it signals you are a prey, but it can also be your best shot if you know what you're doing, as in getting in your car ASAP not just running away because panic
It's actually laying on your back and showing your stomach/genitals that is an obvious sign of submission, literally "rolling over".
A wolf leaning forward for instance rather means "don't fuck with me or else", rather than "I surrender without conditions"
