I had noticed it too, but didn't know the name for it. I knew it was a prey trait, though.

Funny thing -- Tigers have false eyes on the backs of their ears, so that a predator coming up behind them will hesitate, thinking its been spotted. This means that at some point in its history, Tigers were prey for something even bigger and nastier.
